Description

As part of the BAB A 14 Magdeburg – Wittenberge – Schwerin federal highway, the new construction of the Elbe bridge near Wittenberge is planned. The structure consists of an approximately 695 m long foreland bridge and a 412 m long main bridge and will be built next to the existing Elbe bridge of the B 189. In the floor plan, the main bridge is straight and lies with its gradient in a hilltop.
The main bridge over the Elbe crosses the state border of Saxony-Anhalt/Brandenburg. It is planned as a 3-field continuous beam with spans of 126 m – 160 m – 126 m. The southern pier of the main bridge (towards Magdeburg) serves as a separating pier for supporting the foreland and the main bridge. In the longitudinal direction, a low-constraint storage with longitudinal restraint is used on the separating pier. In the abutment axes, box-shaped end crossbeams with a bearing spread of 16.30 m and ballasting with heavy concrete are executed.
A standard cross-section RQ 28B is planned, so that with a usable width of 14.05 m for each directional lane, a total cross-sectional width of 30.40 m between the railings is established.
The superstructure is formed as a central girder bridge in steel construction from a multi-cell box cross-section and lateral cantilever arms. In the area of the central box, the upper chord has a wave-shaped course in the vertical direction. The structural height is 9.60 m in the support area, 5.20 m in the main field
and 5.05 m at the superstructure ends. The chords of the lateral superstructure boxes run in elevation
parallel to the gradient. The standard spacing of transverse bulkheads is planned at 4.00 m.
The main bridge is constructed with a so-called “orthotropic composite roadway slab”. This is a composite structure consisting of an orthotropic steel roadway and a 15 cm thick concrete topping.

Special features

Main bridge:
For the bridge, the roadway is realized as a pilot application as an orthotropic roadway slab with the help of a
ZiE. This consists of an orthotropic steel roadway of reduced sheet thickness and a
single-layer reinforced 10 cm thick concrete slab, which is shear-resistant connected to the steel roadway.

The assembly takes place in cycles and the bridge is pushed in over the river pier and with auxiliary support on a pontoon.
